How to prevent a washer from overloading

June 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Overloading of the washer machine usually causes a lot of problems, even if they are not visible at first glance. Just a few of the problems: clothes not washed properly which means wasting of your time and money (detergent, water, electricity); damage to delicates; excessive wear to the clothes and to the washer, etc. It is very easy to prevent all these hassle. I will give you a few suggestions on using your washer in the most efficient way with the maximum use of its capacity.
Mix large and small items to improve the wash quality and a balance of the load. If your clothes do not have a lot of soil, set the main wash for less than 10 minutes. Use about 1/2 to 3/4 of the detergent measuring spoon. Use the largest possible load (see bellow) to decrease the total amount of washes (less water, less energy, less detergent). For these suggested full-sized loads, set the LOAD SIZE selector to the highest load size setting.

How to find out the manufacturing date of your GE (USA) made appliance

May 1st, 2007 · 1 Comment

GE also makes appliances under names “Hotpoint” and “RCA”. Knowing the age of your appliance can help you find out the manufacturer warranty and decide if it’s worth the repair.

The date code is in the letters on your serial number.
Date codes - First letter is the month and the second letter is the year.

A = January   D = February   F = March   G = April   H = May   L = June   M = July   R = August   S = Sept.   T = Oct.   V = Nov.   Z = Dec.

G = 1980 & 1992   H = 1981 & 1993   L = 1982 & 1994   M = 1983 & 1995   R = 1984 & 1996   S = 1985 & 1997   T = 1986 & 1998   V = 1987 & 1999   Z = 1988 & 2000   A = 1989 & 2001   D = 1990 & 2002    F= 2003   G = 2004   H =2005. The same letter code will be used and repeated in a twelve year cycle.

Example serial number: FR221102
FR221102 - F = month - March
FR221102 - R = year 1984 or 1996

FR was made in  March 1996 or in March 1984
