Here are the most common causes for Whirlpool Refrigerator GB2FHDXWB07 "Leaking"

82% of the time Refrigerator Drain Tube

Water leaking from refrigerator ice on bottom of freezer maytag french door refrigerator

I researched online and discovered a lot of folks had the same issue as I did. The cause was sludge build up in the rubber outlet on the tube drain. And the fix was a replacement kit. The repair seemed easy and the part was inexpensive, so I figured "why not?" I will attempt it and if its too complicated, ill hire an appliance repairman to do it. It was really easy, took me about 15 minutes to replace. I unplugged the fridge for a day to let any ice build up melt. So far no ice build up and no leaked from the fridge. As far as buying the part, it was really effortless from this seller, plugged my fridge model number and it told me if its the correct part or not, I received my part the next day. The earned a return customer

Water leaking from front of the freezer

Replaced the old rubber drain with the P-Trap drain tube. Replacing the drain tube is fairly easy. Getting rid of the ice is time consuming. Warm water seems to get the best and fastest results. Make sure the drain is completely free of ice before installing the new drain.

Leaking water on floor out freezer door due to plugged drain hose

Ordered new design drain pipe with p trap. was easy to install . No water on floor so far since repair. I do think Whirlpool should foot the bill for this part. I paid a lot of money for this appliance and it started leaking a few days after warranty expired.

Ice in floor of freezer

After watching YouTube on diagnosing/fixing problem, I ordered the tube-drain. The part showed up in 3 days. I read instructions with part and re-watched video. After a small amount of blood letting from sheet metal and severely cussing college educated engineers that designed the freezer drawer and rails, the repair was complete. I found the rubber grommet to be clogged with a gummy residue just like in video. No more ice. I suspect I saved myself $300 on service call. Melting ice on and under drip tray took the longest amount of time for repair.

Clogged condenser drain resulting in water collecting & freezing in the bottom of the freezer

Removed the old drain & rubber duckbill and replaced it with the new, improved tube-drain. It took longer to remove and replace the back panel to get to the drain than it did to replace the part.

The Refrigerator Drain Tube is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is the tube responsible for draining condensation and any other moisture that collects at the back of the refrigerator compartment. The drain tube guides liquid to the evaporation pan located below the refrigerator to be evaporated.

Symptoms of a bad drain tube include:

  • Water collecting in the back of the refrigerator
  • Musty odors emanating from the refrigerator
  • Water leakage from the bottom of the refrigerator

Causes of a bad drain tube can be blockages from food particles or debris, cracks or leaks that prevent proper drainage, or damage due to impact or kinking of the tube over time.

This OEM replacement part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

17% of the time Drip Pan

The drain pan leaked

The plastic drain pan had become brittle and cracked when I moved my refrigerator. The part was no longer available from Kenmore so I checked the AppliancePartsPros and they had the part listed. Ordered it and installed it myself.

Drip pan was cracked and leaking

Ordering the part thru APPros was a breeze. New part arrived within a couple of days. Watched video of drip pan replacement on a similar model frig. Took me about 20 minutes total time to switch out the pans.

Drip pan had crack around area where p trap tube snaps in was leaking water on floor

Replaced drip pan as instructed by AppliancePartsPros.com. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/answers-for-whirlpool-pan-drip-wpw10655367-ap6023628-question-230148.html. Went in like a dream.

Cracked drip pan was leaking water onto floor.

The replacement drip pan I ordered was an EXACT match and made out of sturdier plastic than original. To start repair I unplugged fridge, removed back panel, vacuumed out as much of the dust/dirt that I could reach then tried to pull out old pan. The fan was mounted in a removable plastic mounting that is pressure fit in place. Moving the fan and putting it back in place was most difficult component as it needed to bend more than I thought it could stand to fit back in place. The original drip pan was broken and came out in a few pieces, one part was doubled sided taped to bottom of fridge. I am very happy with the part being a perfect match for my refrigerator and will now have a dry floor!

Defrost pan was cracked and leaking on to floor.

To get fan out first, I cut up pan with a pair of dikes, side cutters. New pan drops right in. Fan took some fussing, but magically got situated. Be sure to also replace drain tube if it's not the goose neck style. Old style was a sloped ramp that just leaked out cold air!
