Here are the most common causes for Whirlpool Laundry Center WED7590FW0 "No heat or not enough heat"

4% of the time Heating Element Connecting Wire

My dryer was not heating.

I went on YouTube and looked for this issue. I found an video stating the heating coil might be out and how to test it with a multimeter. I followed the instructions on removing the bottom panel and another piece to get to the heating coil. I had to remove the two leads going to the heating coil. When I went to remove the second one, it just severed, with one end just hanging and the other piece still connected to the heating coil terminal. I removed the wire to have a look and it looked like it burnt or melted. I read online that this could happen if there is a loose connection between the wire and the heating coil terminal. So I knew the wire was definitely the problem or at least part of the problem. I went to the Sears Parts and Service center for the wire and they did not have it. I figured I could try Home Depot or Lowes to get the right gauge wire and the terminals and just make what I needed, but they didn't have the right terminal connector. (There are different size terminal connectors on either end of the wire and Lowes only carried the small one. Same with OSH). At this point I just called a repairman, but decided to keep looking online. Finally when I made my search less specific about my make and model of dryer, I ran across another repair site stating exactly what I was looking at with a link to AppliancePartsPros.com. They had exactly what I needed with a little video showing exactly what I needed to do. I did put a rush on the wire to beat the repairman who was scheduled to come out a week later. I wanted to see if the new wire would fix the issue or if my heating coil was also out. I ordered the wire on Friday expecting to get it on Tuesday because I ordered it after 5PM EST, and it was a weekend, but surprisingly I got it Sunday. I made the repair, turned on my dryer with the cover still off and I was able to see my heating coil light up. I let it run for about 5 minutes and sure enough the dryer was heating up again. It maybe took me 20 - 30 mins to fix, and that was because I needed to cut and strip off the end of the "melted" wire and splice it with the new one. It took a little turning and elbow grease to get the stealth off the "melted" wire. Once that was done, everything went just like the video. The part cost me $5 or $6 bucks, the rush was about $20. Just for the repairman to show up was going to be $89. Needless to say I called off the appointment. I just kept it as a backup in case I couldn't fix it myself. I am extremely happy I found AppliancePartsPros.com.

The heating element wire of my dryer had oxidized and crumbled apart and was no longer connected

I bought a new wire, clipped off the damaged portion of the old one, and tethered the new and healthy portion of the old wire together.

Heating element connection wire was bad

Once I discovered the problem, I went on line, narrowed down the part I needed, watched the repair video and decided to fix it myself. Simple fix, inexpensive part and the entire repair cost a grand total of $15.96. Did I mention I am an over 50 year old woman with no prior experience repairing appliances! Sure beats the cost of replacing with a new or a used dryer. Can you say... S-U-C-C-E-S-S! My ancient Whirlpool dryer now works like a charm!

Dryer was producing no heat.

Looked at videos on youtube on troubleshooting the 'dryer no heat' problem, I opened up the front of the dryer and spotted a broken wire running to the heater element. ( I also checked the heating element just to be sure it was ok and it was ) Ordered part (and got it the next day!!!!! ) and installed it.

3% of the time Thermistor

E 1 error code

Ordered thermister after watching YouTube video. Part arrived in just 2 days. Repair went just as depicted on video. Easy fix. Hoping it corrects the problem.

No heat

Had a power failure when dryer was being used. Dryer was still running but not heating. Used a multimeter to discover that there was no continuity in this part. Ordered the part and received it within 48hrs. Took less than 2 min to replace the part. Praise the Lord, it now works like a charm!

My Cabrio dryer was not getting hot to dry clothes

Per Assistance from AppliancePartsPros I was able to get the Thermister part now my Dryer works great!

No heat with clothes dryer

I watched a couple of YouTube videos on what to do when your dryer won't heat, I then went online to AppliancePartsPros.com, Ordered the parts, installed them, it worked and now I am a hero in my Wife's eyes. Feels great. The service and support I received from AppliancePartsPros.com was absolutely outstanding! Best online experience ever. I can't wait for another appliance to fail and I get to be a hero again (not really). Thanks.

Cycle finished before drying or dryer got too hot!

Replaced the thermistor. Actual time taken was more related to getting bolts back in than anything else. Actual repair was easy with right tools and the how-to videos are outstanding. I am not the handiest person but, with the help of Appliancepartspros.com, I have now fixed both my washer and dryer myself at a much lower cost than calling back the authorized repair guy (who couldn’t fix it for me last time!). I paid less for parts than the cost of a service call. Love this site.

The Thermistor is an OEM part for Whirlpool brand dryers. It is a temperature-sensing resistor that monitors air temperature changes during the drying cycle. The thermistor provides feedback to the control board on heating element performance and internal air condition.

Symptoms of a failed thermistor include:

  • Inaccurate temperature readings and selections
  • Improper or incomplete drying
  • Safety issues from overheating due to lack of feedback
  • Error codes displayed on the control panel

Causes can be related to normal wear and environmental exposure over time. Failure prevents the dryer from achieving optimal drying conditions.

This genuine Whirlpool thermistor replacement restores precise air temperature monitoring. It ensures the control board receives accurate input to effectively regulate heating levels. This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Drum Felt Seal

Dryer needed a new front drum gasket

Ordered the gasket with ease. It was delivered very quickly at a respectable price. The repair video was very informative and I completed the repair quick and easy. The dryer runs like new. Thank you.

I have a whirlpool duet washer and dryer and i was getting thin brown streaks (lines) on my clothes after they were put in the dryer there were very hard to remove

After doing a little research, it was found that the felt seals were the likely culprits, so I ordered a pair of felt seals. We watched the video and got to work. Of course since we are amateurs, it took us a bit longer to take the dryer apart and put it back together again, but it still didn't take all that long, and we saved buckets of money compared to what it would have cost if we would have had "professionals" fix it. We love AppliancePartsPros.com because they have saved us hundreds of dollars over the years. We have fixed both the washer and dryer, our dishwasher, and our refrigerator. We also love bragging about them because they have a video for every repair. It doesn't get any better! (These husband-and-wife projects are also a lot of fun!) Thanks guys! The McKnights Wisconsin

Burn brown marks on clothes

Watched your videos on line, ordered the felt replacements and completed the repair on a Sunday morning. The videos were exact and helpful.

Loosing heat on the dryer 10 years old

After replacing easily the felt bands, it was like a new machine. Just be sure to follow the instructions and you should not have any problems. Thanks for the video and others peoples inputs.

Seals worn out on drum

I do research on online and show how to do it . I done thru and start to taking parts of as top and front panel then l take out the cover of blower housing . Loose the belt and lift drum out and take old seal out . Clean with acetone while brush off the hard dry glued and wipes with clean rags all around . Let it dry few moments then put new seal in shape of drum and see if it fits . It fits good and do both sides too. Let it sit out for an hour before I put in back of the dryer and do put it together and check everything before it starts running . It runs good and no leak air out . While running . The Dryer Drum Felt Seal is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool electric dryers. Located inside the spinning dryer drum, it lines the perimeter and protects the interior surface from abrasions. This seal measures approximately 82 inches in length.

Symptoms of a bad dryer drum felt seal include:

  • Scratches or scuff marks visible on the inside of the drum
  • Visible wear patterns or thinning of the felt material
  • Premature rusting or corrosion of the steel drum
  • Chipped or delaminated areas exposing bare steel

Causes of failure can include normal wear from friction generated during high-speed spins. Mineral deposits and grit trapped between the seal and drum may accelerate wear over extended use as well.

This OEM part is also compatible with brands like Maytag, Amana and Kenmore.

To order seal adhesive separately, order WP279368.

Terminal and Wire Kit

Fried terminal block

My daughter moved into a new home. During the move the dryer cord terminal screws somehow went missing and her brother in law substituted regular screws that worked but did not make a secure connection. Eventually after a power outage when power was restored the power surge was more than the substitute screws could handle and it melted some wires. The kit that I ordered made a safe and a properly secured repair. Suzanne took the order and was a tremendous help in getting the correct repair part. Excellent technical and customer support by Suzanne!

Moisture Sensor Bar

Dryer stopped drying much too soon.

Purchased set of humidity sensors. Very easy install. Ordered before 4 pm and received around noon next day. Unbelievable fast !

Dryer was shutting off before clothes were totally dry

Looked at repair manual that was inside the bottom of dryer (intended for technician). Followed a few simple test instructions for that problem and it said the moisture sensor bar was not working. $7 part. It has two bars so we replaced both. Parts came in a couple days. Simple installation. Dryer working like new for about $25 w/shipping.

Whirlpool duet dryer moisture sensor

I watched the video which was explicit and straight forward about how to do the repair. Just be careful when you unhook the two wires as they want to fall down into the space which has very little access. I was able to remove the inner filter cover and use a piece of wire to retrieve the wires and plugs so not too bad after all. If I had to do it over I would not remove both plugs just the black wire, remove the sensor and replace it,re-attach the black wire and finish mounting the filter frame.

Moisture sensor bars went bad

I stumbled across appliance parts prod by accident and I'm happy I did. I love that they had a video attached to the past I needed detailing the diy repair. Great idea and saved me money. Thanks guys

Dryer would signal clothes were dry prematurely

Looked on the Internet and learned that the dryer had moisture sensors that sometimes went bad. Found the parts at appliance parts pros.com. Was pleasantly surprised with how quickly the parts arrived. Ordered on Thursday and the parts delivered the very next day using their standard shipping. Outstanding service! And the parts fit perfectly. Now my dryer works like it used to 15 years ago.

The Moisture Sensor Bar is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers. It is a component located inside the dryer drum that senses the moisture level of clothes during tumble drying cycles. The moisture sensor bar utilizes sensors or probes to gauge how dry clothes are getting and signals the dryer to shut off once clothes reach the desired dryness level selected by the user.

Symptoms of a bad moisture sensor bar include:

  • Dryer failing to shut off automatically at the end of cycles, leaving clothes over-dried
  • Cycles taking excessively long to complete
  • Dryer not sensing moisture levels properly to allow automatic ending of cycles

Causes of a faulty moisture sensor bar are usually due to normal wear and tear over time. Dust or lint buildup can also affect its ability to provide accurate readings.

This OEM replacement part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Thermal Cut Off

No heat.

Ordered the thermal cut-off kit. Cleaned out the lint build-up over the years too. The dryer works better than it has in the past.

No heat.

I OPENED UP THE CABINET AND DID A CONTINUITY TEST ON THE HEATING COIL, FUSE, THERMOSTAT, AND HIGH TEMP THERMOSTAT. THE THERMOSTAT CIRCUIT WAS OPEN. WHEN I WENT TO ORDER IT, THEY ADVISED ME TO GET THE KIT WITH THE THERMOSTAT AND THE HIGH TEMP CUTOFF. I INSTALLED THEM AND BINGO! NOW I'M A DRYER EXPERT! THIS W.AS TOO EASY

With your help figured out it was the thermostat

First, I had to take almost the whole dryer apart as I couldn't find YouTube video on my exact dryer. Checked continuity on thermostat, and it failed. Check all the other electric devices, including the heater element and all were okay. Putting it back together was a little tricky as I did not take any notes when I took it apart. I do have a couple screws left over, cn't find where they could go, but all is running fine.

The Dryer Thermostat is an OEM Replacement Part designed to control the temperature within your Whirlpool dryer. This component is essential for preventing overheating. This can reduce the lifespan of your dryer and increase the risk of fire. The thermostat also ensures that the dryer generates enough heat for effective operation. If the machine fails to start, it may be due to a malfunctioning thermostat. This part is built for durability but may need replacement if damaged or broken.

Always disconnect power before initiating repairs. This high-limit thermostat and thermistor assembly is located on the heating element housing. The thermistor should read around 50k to 60K ohms at room temperature. Tools needed for replacement include a 5/16th socket or nut driver, and a quarter-inch socket or nut driver. The Dryer Thermostat is compatible with select Whirlpool and Maytag dryer models.

Terminal Block

The power cord melted and needed to replace parts.

I opened the dryer because it wouldn’t start and that’s when I noticed the problem. I went online order the parts I needed. It was easy to replace but was nervous to do it. When I turn on the dryer it worked.
