36% of the time Heating Element

Dryer heating element

I got on your website and saw it had a box( talk to a rep)...so i did.. the rep was very helpful with my parts order and help finding the ID plate on my dryer. After ordering the part I was told between 2 and 5 days..it was here in 2 days! After 15 minutes the dryer was up and running, and as they say happy wife happy life. Thanks again ,If I ever need any more parts or help online I will know where to go.

Electric dryer wasn't heating whirlpool ultimate care ii

One of the contributors to your website walked me through how to test for continuity on the various components of the heating can. After testing, the heating element failed and I immediately ordered a new one from your website. Your website had the lowest price for the heating element, and for a reasonable shipping charge, the party was delivered the following day. I installed the party but the dryer still didn't heat. I then did some additional reading online and found out that sometimes one of the 110 circuits would trip, resulting in the dryer starting up and the motor turning, but still not be able to get heat. I reset the 220 breaker and started the dryer up again, and to my absolute relief, the dryer heated up. I am very appreciative of this site. It has all the parts you could ever need, shows pictures and explanations for each part, and even comes with a how to video. The prices are the lowest, and the forums are the icing on a great big cake. By the way, I wanted to give a shout out to brobriffin. He was instrumental in walking me through this process, and we even began texting each other, where he gave additional guidance, as well as sending various videos and pics to help give me a visual of what he was explaining to me. All in all, appliancepartspros will be my go to website when I need appliance guidance. Thank you, Richard Lucey

No heat when running kenmore electric clothes dryer

Checked continuity of heating element and found open coil and ordered part, heating element received in two days, installed heating element which was a perfect fit and everyone is happy drying their laundry.

Not drying clothes

Appliance shop tested all electronic parts and said they were all fine. I disagreed. I replaced thermostat, thermal fuse and finally the heating element. Then I cleaned out the coil-type dryer duct, and now it's as good as new. I plan to replace coil duct with metal later.

The Heating Element is an OEM part compatible with Whirlpool brand dryers. It generates the heat needed to effectively dry clothes and linens during the drying cycle. The precise coil design allows it to heat the air inside the dryer to optimum temperatures.

Causes of a bad heating element can include normal wear and tear over time, mineral or lime buildup that impedes heat transfer, or physical damage to the coil or connecting wires.

Symptoms of a bad heating element include:

  • The dryer takes a long time to dry clothes or does not dry them completely
  • Slow or inaccurate temperature selection
  • Noticeable decrease in air heat output
  • Tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse after drying

Note: has 2-5/16" male terminals.

Replacing the part with this genuine Whirlpool OEM heating element helps restore reliable and efficient drying performance. It is also compatible with brands such as Amana, Maytag, Jenn-Air, and KitchenAid.

26% of the time Thermal Cut-Off Kit

Clothes dryer wasn t heating

Preface: I have never done anything like this before. My ten year old Whirlpool dryer (electric) ran perfectly except that it suddenly stopped heating. I went on youtube and your website, watched a few videos and thought to myself "I can probably do this." I ordered a thermal fuse via your instant chat feature which proved to be a mistake. As soon as it arrived I knew it didn't look like the part I needed so I called AppliancePartsPros.com and learned that the part I needed was actually called a thermal cut-off. It arrived in a couple of days and was installed in about ten minutes. I am happy to report that with your help the dryer in running like new. Thank you.

Dryer quit drying

As on previous occasions, got online with Appliance Parts Pro and easily & quickly learned how to determine the problem, find the parts needed, how to remove the failed part and how to install its replacement. Hard to believe how convenient and efficient this company is.

No heat

I bought those parts tuesday they were here thursday morning had my dryer working great by noon thursday.

Whirlpool dryer wouldn't heat

I found your website with complete detailed instructions for troubleshooting the dryer. After I identified the problem, I was able to watch the video showing the repair and then order the part. Easy as pie, and I knew nothing about dryers. Your website saved me a bundle on technician labor fees.

Dryer was working but there was no heat

I was new to these repairs and not very skilled with the multi-meter. The thermal cut off switch was bad.

No heat

Simple diagnosis, checked for open heating coil, was ok, then checked and found open thermostat. Easy to replace.

16% of the time Hi-Limit Thermostat

My dryer was blowing cool air and not hot to dry my clothes

I went online and saw a video from AppliancePartsPros.com. The gentlemen showed me exactly what I needed to fix my dryer and exactly how to repair it. His directions were so easy to follow. I ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros website and installed them and my dryer is working better than before. I only spent $91.00 to repair instead of purchasing a new dryer for $699.00. Thank you so much for saving me over $600.00.

Dryer not heating up.

After finding out vent was plugged. Cleaned vent & still no heat, I replaced the hi-limit thermostat because the heating element would come on for a few seconds & shut off not geting up to temp to dry. Seems okay now.

Dryer overheating

Learned it was the Hi-limit thermostat and order one. Absolutely no sweat taking the old one out and putting the new one in. Watch their videos. Nothing to it.

The dryer would not heat.

After watching a video on Youtube, I used a multimeter to test continuity in each of the thermostats. The hi-limit thermostat failed. I ordered the part late one evening with overnight shipping. The part shipped the next day and arrived on time. It took just a few minutes to install the part and start drying clothes again. AppliancePartsPros.com is an EXCELLENT source for parts!

Dyer works but not heating.

Troubleshooting resulted in one of the thermostat ( the high limit) being open. Priced the item at local sources, and the prices were all at least double that of Applianceparts.com Ordered the part, it arrived a couple of day before the scheduled date. Tested the part before installation. Now the machine works as it should. Thanks for being available to assist and especially with lower prices.

4% of the time Dryer Belt

Broken dryer belt

Replacement belt was very reasonably priced and was shipped super fast! Ordered Sunday and arrived Tuesday afternoon. Repair was very easy. Only required removing two screw on the front dryer plate which then popped right off (Maytag Performa). Dryer drum can be lifted easily to put belt around. Came with a diagram of how to use the tensioner which was helpful. Couldn't actually see what I was doing so had to do it by feel. Was a tight squeeze to get my arm back to the pulley and tensioner but was overall a very simple fix. Dryer works great now.

Dryer drum not turning

Went to your site and viewed it and searched the parts and found he belt. This is my 2nd time using your site and very pleased 100%.

Belt had broken drum was not spinning

Bought a belt and watched the great video on the site that walks you through replacing the belt; worked perfectly, and the dryer is now fixed saving me hundreds!

No heat for the dryer

Just change the thermal fuse, That caused the problem but also changed the other parts to prevent future problems

Dryer drum stopped turning

I ordered a belt from you - which under regular shipping was received in less than 24 hours. With your video & instructions included, the repair was quickly completed. I'm slow - I thought your time estimate was realistic. The additional time was spent cleaning lint. 2 comments on your video: Your video did not say anything about supporting the drum. I did - which seemed to eliminate the need to be concerned about the back drum gasket slipping under a lip.

3% of the time Lint Filter (wht)

Just needed a new dryer vent screen

Bought a new screen and put it in! My dryer is very old, so I was happy I could even find a new part.

My dryer vent screen was damaged

Found the model number, went on line to parts breakdown, and ordered a new one . I pulled old one out and inserted new one.

The handle on the lint screen for the dryer had broken

To fix it I just bought a new dryer screen to replace the old one. Delivery time for the new part was super fast.

Filter screen torn.

Ordered a new filter screen. It was at my door in 2 days and was a perfect fit. Took longer to open package than to install. Will definitely use parts pros in the future.

Repair your dryer with this genuine OEM Replacement Lint Filter, designed for a variety of Whirlpool dryers. The filter measures approximately 20 inches in length (excluding the handle) and is 8.5 inches wide. This lint filter is located either on the top or inside the dryer's door, depending on your dryer model.

The lint filter's primary function is to capture lint from your laundry before it reaches the dryer vent. Regularly cleaning the lint filter after each laundry load is highly recommended. A damaged lint filter may result in longer drying times and lint accumulation near the filter area. In some instances, cleaning may suffice, but replacement might be necessary.

To replace the lint filter, first, unplug the dryer. Then open the door or access area, remove the old lint filter, and install the new OEM Replacement Part. Enhance your dryer's efficiency with this genuine OEM replacement part.

The felt drum seal came off.

2% of the time Heating Element Connecting Wire

My dryer was not heating.

I went on YouTube and looked for this issue. I found an video stating the heating coil might be out and how to test it with a multimeter. I followed the instructions on removing the bottom panel and another piece to get to the heating coil. I had to remove the two leads going to the heating coil. When I went to remove the second one, it just severed, with one end just hanging and the other piece still connected to the heating coil terminal. I removed the wire to have a look and it looked like it burnt or melted. I read online that this could happen if there is a loose connection between the wire and the heating coil terminal. So I knew the wire was definitely the problem or at least part of the problem. I went to the Sears Parts and Service center for the wire and they did not have it. I figured I could try Home Depot or Lowes to get the right gauge wire and the terminals and just make what I needed, but they didn't have the right terminal connector. (There are different size terminal connectors on either end of the wire and Lowes only carried the small one. Same with OSH). At this point I just called a repairman, but decided to keep looking online. Finally when I made my search less specific about my make and model of dryer, I ran across another repair site stating exactly what I was looking at with a link to AppliancePartsPros.com. They had exactly what I needed with a little video showing exactly what I needed to do. I did put a rush on the wire to beat the repairman who was scheduled to come out a week later. I wanted to see if the new wire would fix the issue or if my heating coil was also out. I ordered the wire on Friday expecting to get it on Tuesday because I ordered it after 5PM EST, and it was a weekend, but surprisingly I got it Sunday. I made the repair, turned on my dryer with the cover still off and I was able to see my heating coil light up. I let it run for about 5 minutes and sure enough the dryer was heating up again. It maybe took me 20 - 30 mins to fix, and that was because I needed to cut and strip off the end of the "melted" wire and splice it with the new one. It took a little turning and elbow grease to get the stealth off the "melted" wire. Once that was done, everything went just like the video. The part cost me $5 or $6 bucks, the rush was about $20. Just for the repairman to show up was going to be $89. Needless to say I called off the appointment. I just kept it as a backup in case I couldn't fix it myself. I am extremely happy I found AppliancePartsPros.com.

The heating element wire of my dryer had oxidized and crumbled apart and was no longer connected

I bought a new wire, clipped off the damaged portion of the old one, and tethered the new and healthy portion of the old wire together.

Heating element connection wire was bad

Once I discovered the problem, I went on line, narrowed down the part I needed, watched the repair video and decided to fix it myself. Simple fix, inexpensive part and the entire repair cost a grand total of $15.96. Did I mention I am an over 50 year old woman with no prior experience repairing appliances! Sure beats the cost of replacing with a new or a used dryer. Can you say... S-U-C-C-E-S-S! My ancient Whirlpool dryer now works like a charm!

Dryer was producing no heat.

Looked at videos on youtube on troubleshooting the 'dryer no heat' problem, I opened up the front of the dryer and spotted a broken wire running to the heater element. ( I also checked the heating element just to be sure it was ok and it was ) Ordered part (and got it the next day!!!!! ) and installed it.

2% of the time Door Latch Kit

Clothes dryer door latch failed.

I ordered the Latch Kit. It arrived within 2 days. I replaced the Latch and Striker within 5 minutes.

Broken clasp on the closure of the dryer pedestal.

On a Friday, I ordered the replacement part, which was easy to find on the appliance Parts Pros website. It came the very next day!

I watched the video on the appliancepartspros.com that showed how to fix the latch. I then went and snapped in the clip (that came in the kit) into the dryer door. Ran the dryer the door stayed shut. Dryer fixed!!!

Door would open while dryer was on.

I looked up the problem on YouTube and saw that it was a simple fix. I went to Google Search for the part and appliancepartpros.com come up, I clicked. Their site is so convenient. less than 1% of the time Blower Wheel

Dryer fan blower wheel broke loose from motor shaft making loud noise and preventing the dryer from drying properly

Replaced the fan. It required the complete dismantling of the dryer, but it wasn't difficult and the repair went well. (Watched a video on You Tube). But it took a little too long to get the part (8 days).

Fan broke on dryer.

Took the entire dryer apart and watched a video on how to do it.. Took us about 25 mins and the dryer works like new. So happy!!!!

The blower wheel was broken

I watched a repair video on how to replace the wheel. There was a link provided to order the replacement part. It was shipped and arrived in 3 days.

Growling and overheating motor.

First I had to replace the motor, however, as an ex professional Repair Technician, I happen to know that quite often, it is very difficult (if not impossible) to get the blower wheel off of the motor shaft. Especially since the models that use these blower wheels are quite old now (still good though). When this happens, the blower wheel must be chiseled apart to get the motor out. That said, I had to do this and after replacing the motor, it is very easy to spin the new blower wheel on to the motor. I would suggest to anyone changing the motor, to order the blower wheel as well since you may likely need it and won't have your dryer inoperative while ordering more parts.

less than 1% of the time Dryer Cycling Thermostat

Had no heat.

Replaced the cycle thermostat cleaned the duct work and now I have a brand new dryer and a happy wife !!!!!

Whirlpool dryer (wed5000dw2) runs but no heat

1. Verified 220V at wall and at dryer; 2. Tested dryer thermal fuse - okay, but replaced anyway. 3. Replaced Dryer thermal cut-out & hi-limit thermostat (FYI: my dryer did NOT have an orange wire to reconnect). 4. Still no heat! 5. Replace dryer cycle thermostat 6. HEAT working now!!! My only question is how could I have tested the dryer thermal cut-out and the hi-limit thermostat to see if they were not working to start with? Of course, it is conceivable that the problem was a double-fault not single, but if there is a simple test that I can do with a multimeter, it would be nice to tell us about that. Perhaps less sales, but happier customers!

My dryer would not get hot

I followed the video online. I determined it was a thermostat. I ordered the part and installed it. The dryer is working fine now.

No heat in clothes dryer

Whirlpool sent a test kit which showed us the dryer tub was spinning but we had no heat. We have a very "handy" handyman we can call (color us lucky!). He came out and first tried to see if air was moving from dryer to outside. If the vent is clogged, no air will move and it's the air movement that pulls [heated] air from the heating coils to the tub. The vent was not clogged, so he investigated further and decided the 'dryer cycle thermostat' needed to be replaced. I received the part 2 days after I ordered it. The man came out and spent about 15 min replacing the part. My wife is very happy. The handyman came from "Home Advisor".

The dryer's cylcing thermostat (2nd time since 1/1/20 purchase date)

Purchased the part from AppliancePartsPros.com, watched the video and put in the part. It was very easy. I am a 70-year-old woman, who is not mechanical, but thrifty. The first time this part went out I hired a repair person. Cost me $300. This time I did it myself and the part was a little over $50! Sure saved me $ and it was easy.

The Dryer Thermostat is an OEM Replacement Part engineered to regulate the internal drying temperature of your dryer. It has a temperature limit of 155-25F and includes an internal-bias heater. This essential component might be the solution if your dryer is not heating, not starting, not drying properly, or taking too long to dry.

To ensure proper function, one should test the inner terminals on the cycling thermostat for a resistance of approximately 9K ohms. A malfunctioning thermostat that fails to shut off the heater could potentially blow the high limit. It's compatible with several brands, including Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, and Crosley.

The Lint Screen Housing Foam Seal is an OEM replacement part that is compatible with Whirlpool dryers. It fits around the lint screen and is placed inside the lint filter housing. This ensures the heated air funneled into the dryer drum is free from lint, debris, and moisture.

When this seal fails, it can cause various problems with the dryer's operation. You may notice the buildup of lint inside the dryer vent, which can increase the risk of a fire. The failing seal can also cause the clothes to come out of the dryer wet or damp. Additionally, the clothes may take longer to dry than usual.

Factors that cause a lint screen housing seal to fail include:

  • Frequent overloading of the dryer
  • Natural wear and tear
  • Exposure to high temperatures and humidity

If your dryer's lint screen housing seal starts to fail, it's best to replace it right away.

Idler Pulley

Dryer was squeaking during operation.

I purchased a dryer rebuild kit and an idler pully as the pully in the rebuild kit was not the same type as in my dryer.

Squeaking while running

I replaced the idler pulley wheel assembly, and it works fine now. I had purchased a repair kit from another supplier, but the idler pulley assembly was too tight on the belt. --Yes, I assembled it correctly-- The drum wouldn't turn. I sent away for this idler pulley which replaced the original assembly. The drum turns, and the squeaking is eliminated..

Dryer was missing idler pulley.

I was able to find the Idler pulley here on AppliancePartsPros.com, for my dryer. Install took literally 5 minutes and dryer works as it should.

Dryer made a loud squeaking noise when you turned it on

I googled the problem and narrowed it down to drum support which are the wheels it sits on and idler pulley which puts tension on the belt. The bearings had gone out on it

Broken dryer belt.

Looked on internet for parts, but the general model number corresponded to many different belts and I could not figure it out. Your phone person taught me how to find the exact model number on the door of the dryer and identified the proper belt. In addition, research showed that the friction based idler pulley on my model was the cause of failure, so I got the replacement idler pulley from you using the correct model number. There were a couple of videos, especially FixIt, that showed all the steps to fix it. Actual time working on the dryer was less than an hour. The videos were awesome.
