Clothes dryer wasn t heating

Preface: I have never done anything like this before. My ten year old Whirlpool dryer (electric) ran perfectly except that it suddenly stopped heating. I went on youtube and your website, watched a few videos and thought to myself "I can probably do this." I ordered a thermal fuse via your instant chat feature which proved to be a mistake. As soon as it arrived I knew it didn't look like the part I needed so I called AppliancePartsPros.com and learned that the part I needed was actually called a thermal cut-off. It arrived in a couple of days and was installed in about ten minutes. I am happy to report that with your help the dryer in running like new. Thank you.

Dryer quit drying

As on previous occasions, got online with Appliance Parts Pro and easily & quickly learned how to determine the problem, find the parts needed, how to remove the failed part and how to install its replacement. Hard to believe how convenient and efficient this company is.

No heat

I bought those parts tuesday they were here thursday morning had my dryer working great by noon thursday.

I found your website with complete detailed instructions for troubleshooting the dryer. After I identified the problem, I was able to watch the video showing the repair and then order the part. Easy as pie, and I knew nothing about dryers. Your website saved me a bundle on technician labor fees.

Dryer was working but there was no heat

I was new to these repairs and not very skilled with the multi-meter. The thermal cut off switch was bad.

No heat

Simple diagnosis, checked for open heating coil, was ok, then checked and found open thermostat. Easy to replace.

If your Whirlpool dryer or washer/dryer combo is not functioning properly, it may be due to a damaged thermal cut-off. This thermal cut off kit is an authentic OEM replacement kit that is designed to prevent the dryer from overheating.

Made of durable metal. Both components are mounted on the heater housing. They measure approximately 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide each. If the thermal cut-off fuse has gone out, the dryer will not function but replacing it using the components in this kit is simple.

This Kit Includes:

  • High Limit Thermostat (250°F Limit)
  • A Cut Off Fuse (309°F Limit)
  • Female Spade Terminals
  • Jumper Wires

It is important to note that a plugged lint screen, something stuck in the exhaust vent, or a broken blower wheel can cause the thermal cut-off to fail or become damaged. Don't wait to replace a faulty thermal cut-off. Order now.

My dryer was blowing cool air and not hot to dry my clothes

I went online and saw a video from AppliancePartsPros.com. The gentlemen showed me exactly what I needed to fix my dryer and exactly how to repair it. His directions were so easy to follow. I ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros website and installed them and my dryer is working better than before. I only spent $91.00 to repair instead of purchasing a new dryer for $699.00. Thank you so much for saving me over $600.00.

Dryer not heating up.

After finding out vent was plugged. Cleaned vent & still no heat, I replaced the hi-limit thermostat because the heating element would come on for a few seconds & shut off not geting up to temp to dry. Seems okay now.

Dryer overheating

Learned it was the Hi-limit thermostat and order one. Absolutely no sweat taking the old one out and putting the new one in. Watch their videos. Nothing to it.

The dryer would not heat.

After watching a video on Youtube, I used a multimeter to test continuity in each of the thermostats. The hi-limit thermostat failed. I ordered the part late one evening with overnight shipping. The part shipped the next day and arrived on time. It took just a few minutes to install the part and start drying clothes again. AppliancePartsPros.com is an EXCELLENT source for parts!

Dyer works but not heating.

Troubleshooting resulted in one of the thermostat ( the high limit) being open. Priced the item at local sources, and the prices were all at least double that of Applianceparts.com Ordered the part, it arrived a couple of day before the scheduled date. Tested the part before installation. Now the machine works as it should. Thanks for being available to assist and especially with lower prices.

Dryer heating element

I got on your website and saw it had a box( talk to a rep)...so i did.. the rep was very helpful with my parts order and help finding the ID plate on my dryer. After ordering the part I was told between 2 and 5 days..it was here in 2 days! After 15 minutes the dryer was up and running, and as they say happy wife happy life. Thanks again ,If I ever need any more parts or help online I will know where to go.

Electric dryer wasn't heating whirlpool ultimate care ii

One of the contributors to your website walked me through how to test for continuity on the various components of the heating can. After testing, the heating element failed and I immediately ordered a new one from your website. Your website had the lowest price for the heating element, and for a reasonable shipping charge, the party was delivered the following day. I installed the party but the dryer still didn't heat. I then did some additional reading online and found out that sometimes one of the 110 circuits would trip, resulting in the dryer starting up and the motor turning, but still not be able to get heat. I reset the 220 breaker and started the dryer up again, and to my absolute relief, the dryer heated up. I am very appreciative of this site. It has all the parts you could ever need, shows pictures and explanations for each part, and even comes with a how to video. The prices are the lowest, and the forums are the icing on a great big cake. By the way, I wanted to give a shout out to brobriffin. He was instrumental in walking me through this process, and we even began texting each other, where he gave additional guidance, as well as sending various videos and pics to help give me a visual of what he was explaining to me. All in all, appliancepartspros will be my go to website when I need appliance guidance. Thank you, Richard Lucey

Dryer not heating

Youtubed video to diagnose which found out it was the heating element. Part came in 2 days. less then 15 minutes to fix. Wife happy. Yeah!!!

Ordered heating element from APP. Received in one day. replaced old heating element with new one and worked marvelously, thank you APP.

No heat when running kenmore electric clothes dryer

Checked continuity of heating element and found open coil and ordered part, heating element received in two days, installed heating element which was a perfect fit and everyone is happy drying their laundry.

Not drying clothes

Appliance shop tested all electronic parts and said they were all fine. I disagreed. I replaced thermostat, thermal fuse and finally the heating element. Then I cleaned out the coil-type dryer duct, and now it's as good as new. I plan to replace coil duct with metal later.

The Heating Element is an OEM part compatible with Whirlpool brand dryers. It generates the heat needed to effectively dry clothes and linens during the drying cycle. The precise coil design allows it to heat the air inside the dryer to optimum temperatures.

Causes of a bad heating element can include normal wear and tear over time, mineral or lime buildup that impedes heat transfer, or physical damage to the coil or connecting wires.

Symptoms of a bad heating element include:

  • The dryer takes a long time to dry clothes or does not dry them completely
  • Slow or inaccurate temperature selection
  • Noticeable decrease in air heat output
  • Tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse after drying

Note: has 2-5/16" male terminals.

Replacing the part with this genuine Whirlpool OEM heating element helps restore reliable and efficient drying performance. It is also compatible with brands such as Amana, Maytag, Jenn-Air, and KitchenAid.

7% of the time Dryer Cycling Thermostat

Had no heat.

Replaced the cycle thermostat cleaned the duct work and now I have a brand new dryer and a happy wife !!!!!

Whirlpool dryer (wed5000dw2) runs but no heat

1. Verified 220V at wall and at dryer; 2. Tested dryer thermal fuse - okay, but replaced anyway. 3. Replaced Dryer thermal cut-out & hi-limit thermostat (FYI: my dryer did NOT have an orange wire to reconnect). 4. Still no heat! 5. Replace dryer cycle thermostat 6. HEAT working now!!! My only question is how could I have tested the dryer thermal cut-out and the hi-limit thermostat to see if they were not working to start with? Of course, it is conceivable that the problem was a double-fault not single, but if there is a simple test that I can do with a multimeter, it would be nice to tell us about that. Perhaps less sales, but happier customers!

My dryer would not get hot

I followed the video online. I determined it was a thermostat. I ordered the part and installed it. The dryer is working fine now.

No heat in clothes dryer

Whirlpool sent a test kit which showed us the dryer tub was spinning but we had no heat. We have a very "handy" handyman we can call (color us lucky!). He came out and first tried to see if air was moving from dryer to outside. If the vent is clogged, no air will move and it's the air movement that pulls [heated] air from the heating coils to the tub. The vent was not clogged, so he investigated further and decided the 'dryer cycle thermostat' needed to be replaced. I received the part 2 days after I ordered it. The man came out and spent about 15 min replacing the part. My wife is very happy. The handyman came from "Home Advisor".

The dryer's cylcing thermostat (2nd time since 1/1/20 purchase date)

Purchased the part from AppliancePartsPros.com, watched the video and put in the part. It was very easy. I am a 70-year-old woman, who is not mechanical, but thrifty. The first time this part went out I hired a repair person. Cost me $300. This time I did it myself and the part was a little over $50! Sure saved me $ and it was easy.

The Dryer Thermostat is an OEM Replacement Part engineered to regulate the internal drying temperature of your dryer. It has a temperature limit of 155-25F and includes an internal-bias heater. This essential component might be the solution if your dryer is not heating, not starting, not drying properly, or taking too long to dry.

To ensure proper function, one should test the inner terminals on the cycling thermostat for a resistance of approximately 9K ohms. A malfunctioning thermostat that fails to shut off the heater could potentially blow the high limit. It's compatible with several brands, including Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, and Crosley.

Dryer Belt

Broken dryer belt

Replacement belt was very reasonably priced and was shipped super fast! Ordered Sunday and arrived Tuesday afternoon. Repair was very easy. Only required removing two screw on the front dryer plate which then popped right off (Maytag Performa). Dryer drum can be lifted easily to put belt around. Came with a diagram of how to use the tensioner which was helpful. Couldn't actually see what I was doing so had to do it by feel. Was a tight squeeze to get my arm back to the pulley and tensioner but was overall a very simple fix. Dryer works great now.

Dryer drum not turning

Went to your site and viewed it and searched the parts and found he belt. This is my 2nd time using your site and very pleased 100%.

Belt had broken drum was not spinning

Bought a belt and watched the great video on the site that walks you through replacing the belt; worked perfectly, and the dryer is now fixed saving me hundreds!

No heat for the dryer

Just change the thermal fuse, That caused the problem but also changed the other parts to prevent future problems

Dryer drum stopped turning

I ordered a belt from you - which under regular shipping was received in less than 24 hours. With your video & instructions included, the repair was quickly completed. I'm slow - I thought your time estimate was realistic. The additional time was spent cleaning lint. 2 comments on your video: Your video did not say anything about supporting the drum. I did - which seemed to eliminate the need to be concerned about the back drum gasket slipping under a lip.

The Belt is an OEM part compatible with Whirlpool dryers. It acts as a transmission to power the drum rotation during the drying cycle. The belt reliably conveys motion from the motor to the drum, ensuring garments are properly tumble-dried.

Symptoms of a bad belt include:

  • The drum not turning or rotating slowly
  • Excessive noise and vibration coming from the dryer
  • The belt slipping off the pulley
  • Discoloration, cracking, or fraying of the belt

Causes of a bad belt can be normal wear and tear over time, overloading the dryer with too many wet items, or structural damage to the belt itself.

This genuine OEM Whirlpool part is compatible with many other brand dryers including Maytag, KitchenAid, Affresh, Roper, and some Kenmore models for dependable performance.
