99% of the time Freezer Door Gasket

Freezer door gasket.

I ordered new. The replacement was simple and straightforward. Strapped freezer door closed for a couple of days as the gasket comes through a bit deformed. By product of boxing method. Unavoidable really.

Old freezer gasket was not sealing properly creating heavy frosting on the door and around edges

Put replacement gasket in the bathtub with hot water for about an hour to take out kinks and compressions from packaging. Duct taped plywood over the freezer opening so wouldn't have to turn off and empty while repairing. Loosened (but left in) all 28 screws and removed old gasket. Put new gasket in place, stretching a bit to go over corners. Made a BIG MISTAKE by removing the screws completely from bottom and one side (to ease gasket placement). Second mistake was tightening all the screws on the top and sides first. The shelving panel had shifted so most of the empty holes didn't line up. Had to loosen all the other screws again and realign the holes. Make sure you tighten opposite side screws (like replacing tire lugs) alternately to keep all holes lined up. I used the edge of tablespoon to press lip of gasket behind panel as I tightened. Used a hair dryer to smooth out any gaps in gasket. Compressed the door closed, duct taping it to the freezer body for a couple of hours. Perfect seal now. Would be an easy repair if screws were tightened alternately in the first place! And, a power screwdriver with a nut driver really helps.

The door gasket wore out after several years of use it was worst at the hinge edge.

Searching for the gasket, I ordered one from AppliancePartsPros.com and it was delivered in the two days as indicated. I removed the old gasket, and replacing it with the new one. It fit just fine and is yet working as expected. I took me a while only because I cleaned up surfaces and washed the contact areas to be clean.

Freezer door gasket.

Ordered new gasket. Received in a timely manner. Removed old gasket, all screws from plate under gasket. Installed new gasket and replaced plate and screws. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

The freezer gasket was worn and causing my freezer to frost on the inside (improper seal).

I followed the online instructions making sure the rubber seal sat a few days out of the box to ensure it was not distorted or nicked. After that I carefully removed the old gasket and replaced with the new. Upon replacing it looked like the magnets were not strong enough but that changed after the gasket accommodated itself to the door. Now the door closes with a nice tud sound and I'm not getting any frosting. I'm happy.

This Whirlpool OEM Replacement Part is a white freezer door gasket, measuring 23 3/4 inches by 31 1/2 inches. The gasket, located on the inner door panel, creates a seal around the door. This prevents warm air from entering the freezer. If the gasket is defective, cold air may leak out. Air leaks may cause the freezer to run longer than normal or frost to accumulate inside.

To smooth out folds or creases in the gasket, it can be soaked in warm water or warmed with a hair dryer on low heat. It's critical to verify compatibility with your freezer model before purchase. This freezer door gasket is compatible with several brands, including Amana, Kenmore, KitchenAid, and Whirlpool.
